Bloggers look forward to the month of October, when the Blogtober challenge brings the goal of publishing a new blog post daily. Now, you don’t necessarily have to go all out, but you can use this month to refine your blog and focus on taking some sort of action to refresh your website throughout the month of October.

So whether you are looking for blogging prompts to write a post per day or tips on how to join fellow bloggers in the latest challenge, here’s everything you need to know about my favorite October challenge (plus more information on my spin on the traditional Challenge so you can take part in Blogtober this year too!)

What is Blogtober?

Blogtober is an annual blogging challenge where bloggers write a new blog post every day during the month of October. It can be a general blog post or could even revolve around a particular theme like the fall season, Halloween, or something that correlates with October. Similar to the holiday blogging challenge Blogmas, this event for bloggers is a great way to improve your writing, engage with your audience and boost your blog’s stats, but it can be hard to keep up with daily posts throughout the month, especially as a mompreneur.  as a working mom. If you’ve never heard of this challenge before, you’re in for a treat!

Everything you need to know

Contrary to popular belief, there aren’t many hard-and-fast rules to Blogtober 2024. The primary rule is to write a new blog post every day of October. However, the type of content can vary depending on your niche. Whether you’re into Halloween-themed posts or autumnal book reviews, the sky’s the limit!

If you know me, though, you know I’m all about sustainability in business. And the concept of writing a daily blog for 31 days straight is not very sustainable! That’s why I’m hosting a twist on the traditional challenge this year in the 2024 Blogtober SEO Challenge.

Why take part in Blogtober?

Participating in a blogging challenge can supercharge your blog’s visibility in search engines due to the frequent updates and new content. It can attract more readers, increase your social media followers, and also give you plenty of fresh content to share over several platforms. Moreover, Blogtober can improve your writing skills through continuous blogging

Engaging in this challenge is not just about publishing content — it’s a great way to get involved in the blogging community. You’ll find that many niches take part in this challenge, from lifestyle to book bloggers. It can also be a great way to jumpstart a new blog or revive an existing one.

Inside my Blogtober SEO Challenge, we are focused on making small, daily tasks to improve the SEO of our website. It may not be the traditional 31 posts in 31 days, but that’s because we’re moms, some working 9-5 and building a business. The traditional Challenge simply isn’t sustainable for us!

Even without the traditional rules, we still have an amazing community of women working towards growing their websites inside the Blogtober Challenge!

Benefits of participating in Blogtober

Blogtober is as much a personal challenge as it is a blogging one. It’s a great way to test your limits and see your capabilities. Now before you start Googling something like “how to survive blog challenges”… I promise it won’t be that hard! If you’ve never done something like this before, give it a go — you might surprise yourself!

My challenge does not require you to write a lot. In fact, at the end of October, you’ll walk away with a single blog post that is fully optimized for your target audience to find you from search engines like Google.

Now, if you want to do it the other way and write daily blog posts in October, go right ahead! A lot of bloggers do it, and I’m sure many get burnt out from having to brainstorm ideas for 7 posts a week throughout October.

If you’re in a creative rut or generally feeling uninspired, I promise you that burning yourself out will not lead to consistent blogging! But, making small daily changes to improve your website may be a great way to keep working towards your blogging goals.

When you commit to this challenge, you get involved in the community of other participating mompreneurs, connecting with them on a meaningful level.

Inside my Blogtober Challenge, there is an exclusive portal for live feedback and engagement. This could lead to great networking opportunities and increase your blog’s visibility, especially if you are new to blogging. You may just connect with your newest favorite readers! In the Blogtober 2023 challenge, I loved seeing ladies connect with other bloggers over their recent posts and different content. Sharing and exchanging ideas with other bloggers like you can be very enriching!

How to participate in Blogtober

It’s quite simple—sign up for the Challenge to receive your portal log-in details. Then, check your email on October 1 for instructions on how to get started! Each day in October, you’ll receive an email first thing in the morning (ET) with your daily task. I will be engaging in the portal each day throughout the month to support you in reaching your SEO goals. I look forward to seeing your posts inside the portal!!
