Monetize Your Blog Without Relying on Social Media in 2023

I know, I know. It seems like SEO strategy is just going to add one more thing to your already overflowing plate. I get it. As a fellow woman entrepreneur, I understand the feeling of being stretched too thin! 

But SEO is different. 

You can let go of the constant need to create something exciting and viral for your social media accounts if you have SEO doing the heavy lifting for your website. Social media sites can be bought, go down, or change their algorithms completely…all without any warning to you. Trying to keep up with the never-ending changes is like running as fast as you can and always falling a little bit behind. Plus, you don’t own any of your social media content! 

SEO, on the other hand, is a solid strategy that looks at search results. It’s not going to change overnight. You don’t have to learn any ridiculous dances or download a new app. You own your website and all its contents, so all of your SEO strategy belongs to you. If Instagram goes down one day? No problem! Your website is still getting traffic! If TikTok drastically changes its algorithm? Don’t sweat it. New leads are still coming in. 

This year we have seen a large shift towards digital marketing with SEO.

It has become the go-to strategy for monetizing blogs because business owners have seen all the ways to make money when you implement your SEO knowledge – from digital products, online courses, eCommerce products, and services.

How to Make Money Online with SEO

Are you tired of spending countless hours curating your social media to promote your blog just for people to scroll away without a click? Sell Digital Products

Your audience searches for answers to their questions, and your website comes up in Google search. This audience is the most primed to buy! So, why not promote your digital product that goes above and beyond to answer their question in your blog post?

And, rather than promoting your product on social media, use SEO to drive organic traffic to that product for passive sales.

Affiliate Marketing

Yes, you can absolutely share your affiliate links on social media or in your newsletter. But have you considered using affiliate links to monetize your blog?

Think about it, you use a product or software to solve X problems in your business. Why not write a blog post about the benefits of using that product or service, and use SEO to drive organic traffic and affiliate revenue?! 

I’ve never made money from sharing my affiliate links on Instagram. But I have made money from sharing affiliate links on my SEO’d blog posts 🤑


Ads are a great way to make passive income on your blog once your blog reaches a certain level of traffic.

Ad networks like MediaVine require 50k+ monthly page views to be accepted. SHE Media is also a great option that prioritizes diverse creators and requires 20k+ monthly page views for approval.

Be careful though; too many ads can slow down your site and impact your user experience. If your website has a slow loading time that can negatively affect your SEO rankings. Make sure you choose a reputable ad network whose goals align with yours as a blogger and entrepreneur!

Promote Your Online Services

Do you sell a service that can be conducted online – like a coaching or virtual assistant business? You can promote your services using SEO! You aren’t just limited to using SEO in your sales copy; make sure you use keywords in your meta descriptions and alt text. When ranking websites, Google crawls through all that data, so take every opportunity to utilize your keywords! 

If you have a blog for your service-based business, you can use different keywords for each blog post to get even more organic traffic. Consider the questions your potential clients may pose to search engines and create blog posts that answer those queries. 

Drive More Traffic to Your eCommerce Store

Do you have a dropshipping business or need to build demand for your online store? SEO is a great way to answer your audience’s questions about your products. You could even create a FAQ page for your business with keywords in each answer. 

Your products have descriptions and photos, right? Spend time optimizing those for your website and then sit back and watch as you start making money! Including keywords from your keyword research in all your alt text and product descriptions will help you to show up in search results.

Can SEO make you rich?

Overall, SEO serves as a powerful way for women entrepreneurs, local businesses, online businesses, and bloggers to make money by leveraging digital products, promoting services, engaging in affiliate marketing, and selling physical products. So, yes – you can make money with SEO!

Think of it this way: If you have a beautiful website with killer digital products, but no one ever comes to it…you’re making zero dollars. But if you have a beautiful website with amazing digital products AND a strong SEO strategy…you’re getting organic traffic, lots of new leads, and potentially, a lot of new customers.

With a well-executed SEO strategy, you can maximize your online presence and drive revenue by effectively reaching your target audience without constantly having to be online.
