Have you ever wondered how Google (or other search engines) decides which websites to rank on the first page of search results? Have you heard of search engine optimization (SEO), but haven’t been able to figure out how to utilize a keyword research tool to help you improve your business or website views? Well, keep reading to find out how SEO can improve your website, how you can learn SEO, and how to utilize the best SEO tools out there.

What is SEO?

SEO is how Google (or other search engines) rank websites when keywords are searched. According to experts like Neil Patel, the best part about SEO is it’s a completely “organic” way to drive traffic to your business. You do not need to pay tons of money for ads to get a search engine to rank you higher – you just need to improve your website content’s keywords to coerce the search engine into recognizes your site as one of the best choices.

How do I learn SEO?

Knowing about how SEO works is great, but if you are really committed to improving your website’s organic traffic you need to learn the basics of implementation. The first thing you should do, according to SEMrush is set up with a Google Analytics account. This allows you to see how people are finding your website.

I have my Google Analytics account connected with my Monster Insights dashboard, so when I log in to my website I get all of that great information! After getting your account set up, spend some time researching keywords and search terms using a keyword research tool. There are some really great free SEO tools so if you’re just starting your SEO journey you don’t need to invest a lot quite yet.

Your keyword research will help you figure out which keywords to focus on when creating your content. Be sure to include both short and long-tail keywords so you have a better chance of showing up in search results (an example of a short keyword might be “SEO tools” and an example of a long-tail keyword for the same content might be “best SEO tools 2022”).

When you create content for your website be sure your selected keywords flow naturally within the context of your writing. If you just list a bunch of keywords, that’s called “keyword stuffing” and Google can tell! It will not improve your ranking. The best SEO strategy is to just write what you normally would while making sure to include relevant keywords throughout your content. In addition, try to place a few backlinks to high traffic and reputable website, as well as your own website. Search engines rank websites with strong backlinks higher than those without any.

Keywords and search terms evolve, and your SEO strategy needs to as well. Improving your website’s SEO in 2022 isn’t something you can do once and then leave alone for the next five years. Google Marketing encourages you to embrace changes and be flexible. Set some time aside every couple of months to analyze your data, research new keywords, and experiment with your published content.

What do I need to do for better SEO content?

There are a few key things you can do to improve your website’s SEO. First, make sure to write meta descriptions for all of your pages and posts. Meta descriptions are short summaries of your content that appear in search results, and they should be no more than 160 characters. Including relevant keywords in your meta descriptions can help attract more clicks from potential visitors.

Second, always include alt text with SEO keywords on your images. This helps search engines index your images properly and also provides another opportunity to include relevant keywords.

Finally, be sure to write catchy headlines and include keywords in your post/page URL whenever possible. This makes it easier for search engines to find and index your content, and it also helps potential visitors know what your page is about at a glance. Researching keywords for your niche before creating content can also be helpful in making sure you’re including the best possible keywords for SEO. By following these simple tips, you can improve your website’s SEO and attract more visitors.

My Recommendations: Best FREE SEO Tools

Many SEO tools require a subscription or payment for use, but some of the best SEO tools are free. Ubersuggest is a great option because it provides a large amount of information for each keyword. Did you know that the popularity of certain keywords can fluctuate with the seasons? Ubersuggest compiles all that data and gives it to you, along with other suggested short and long-tail keywords.

Another free SEO tool I like is Google Analytics. The entire point of improving your website’s SEO is to get search engines like Google to rank you higher. Google Analytics tells you how and why people are coming to your website and can help you focus on areas to improve. It’s a no-brainer to have a Google Analytics account set up if you are hoping to improve your SEO strategy in 2022.
