August content ideas for your blog and social media - mikaylataylor.com pinterest

Creating new blog content for August always feels tough to me! It’s the end of summer, it’s unbelievably hot (at least it is where I live!), and I can’t think of anything new or interesting to write about. Am I the only one out there feeling this way?!

Well, guess what? Google doesn’t care about my attitude! If you want your website to rank consistently on the first page of search results, you need to create content that utilizes SEO or search engine optimization. Google gives a major preference to websites that create new content on a consistent basis, so it’s not a great idea to take a break from blogging just because you’re too hot and sweaty to function (trust me, I’ve been there!).

Introducing fresh, new content to Google’s algorithm will keep your blog posts from being relegated to page 20 of the search results. And if you aren’t sure how to fully optimize your blog for SEO, you’re in luck! I’m an SEO Strategist for women entrepreneurs and here to help you out!

August 2023 Awareness Months

National Black Business Month

If you’re a Black business owner, this is the perfect month to highlight your experience. Comment on different marketing techniques you use, trends in your industry that speak to you as a Black business owner, and what you love about your community.

National Immunization Awareness Month

All health and wellness bloggers, take note! You could create a challenge for your social media and blog that asks your followers to post why they believe vaccines are important. You could even create a graphic in Canva for them to use when they share!

Spinal Muscular Atrophy Awareness Month

National Road Victim Month

Be Kind to Humankind Week (August 25-31)

All the kids will be heading back to school around this time, so if you’re a mom blogger, center this content idea around how kids can be kind to each other at school. This would be a great opportunity for you to post a tutorial about a small craft you make for your children’s teacher(s), thanking them for all they do!

More August 2023 Holidays & Awareness Events for Content Ideas

Post a list of your favorite books so far in 2023. Include affiliate links to purchase (if you have them – and don’t forget to disclose that you’ll be making a small commission!) as well as a short review.

Travel bloggers, this is a holiday perfect for you! Showcase some photography of elephants – if you have been lucky enough to see them in person. If not, you can still celebrate. You could write a post about ethical ways to see elephants, best vacations to take if you want to see elephants, or even tips for zoos you’ve visited that have elephants.

How do you unwind? What helps you relax? For this topic, you could list all the things that help you relax during the summer months. If any of them involve products, don’t forget to include your affiliate links!

Is there a non-profit you support as a business owner? This is the perfect time to focus one of your blogs on who they are, what they do, and how you got involved with the organization.

This holiday aims to help people find resources online that can help them take care of themselves. Oftentimes we are so concerned with other people that we forget about our own needs. Write a blog that shares links to resources you find helpful. Promote the importance of mental and physical health, and remind readers that they don’t have to do it all alone.

As a female business owner who works with women entrepreneurs, I am passionate about this holiday! I’d love to see a lot of content from other bloggers about women’s equality and what we can all do to help lift each other up.
