How to Optimize Your Showit Website for SEO
Are you tired of having a Showit website that doesn’t get any traffic or conversions? Are you exhausted thinking about allllllllll the content you have to create for your social media channels to stay visible? Are you ready to try something new??
Introducing a solid SEO (search engine optimization) strategy into your Showit website will help land you on the first page of search engines like Google. Search engines rank websites based on their keyword usage (in response to search queries). If your website copy is strong and persuasive but doesn’t take SEO into account, you’ll never get the ranking you want.
And YES, that ranking is important! How often do you click on the second page of search results when looking for something? I know I almost never do. If I don’t see what I need on the first page I’ll typically go back to the drawing board and enter in an entirely new set of keywords!
You NEED to focus on SEO so your website doesn’t get buried and forgotten before people even see it.

Understanding Showit and SEO Features
Showit is a website builder that boasts “high-level customization with a low-level learning curve.” It’s an intuitive, drag-and-drop site for those who aren’t expert-level coders to create beautiful, fully customizable websites.
Don’t feel like making anything yourself? Luckily, Showit website design is simple! The platform has a huge selection of done-for-you templates to choose from that you can customize to fit your business and your brand however you like.
Looking for Showit templates with a custom feel? Tonic Site Shop offers beautiful, modern website templates for creative business owners.
Showit really benefits women entrepreneurs who aren’t website designers because no coding or HTML is required. You don’t need to waste your already precious time learning something new when you have a business to run! Let Showit help you build a gorgeous website that suits your brand in just a few clicks.
Can you use Showit with WordPress?
One of my favorite things about Showit’s SEO capabilities is its seamless integration with WordPress blogs and plug-in options. It allows you to write and schedule your blog posts in WordPress, and once they’re ready, Showit will handle the publishing.
You can even install SEO plug-ins like RankMath to your blog! So yes, Showit can do all the things your WordPress blog already does. Basically, if WordPress can do it, Showit can, too.
Can you add plug-ins to Showit?
One thing to note, though, is that you need to be on the Advanced Blog plan to get these great WordPress plug-in integrations with Showit.
Showit has three common payment plans. The lowest tier is $19 per month and is for websites without a blog (not you!). The second tier is $24 per month and is best if you are starting your blog. It includes WordPress hosting and Showit plugins, like ConvertKit integration, Pinterest button hover on images, and Jetpack for additional website security. The next highest tier payment option is $34 per month and is for entrepreneurs who have worked with an SEO specialist (like me!). The higher price point gets you additional plugins from WordPress and free advanced blog migration.
It’s worth mentioning that only the higher-priced plans will be effective for you if you are working on making your website design SEO-friendly. I know it’s a bit of a bummer to find out that you can’t get away with the lowest-priced plan, but trust me when I tell you that the investment is definitely worth it! If your goal is to build a high-traffic blog, expect to pay more per month as you grow.
How do I add SEO to Showit?
Showit has built-in SEO settings that will amplify your messaging, expand your reach, and make sure your website is optimized for search engines.
With the starter blog subscription, the free Yoast SEO plugin comes pre-installed for you to take charge of your on-page SEO. The Yoast plugin will provide “SEO customization options for each and every post you create in your blog.” And again, no need to understand HTML here – you simply have to turn it on and it starts working for you!
In addition to the Yoast plugin, Showit also makes adding text tags to all images throughout your website easy. Google crawls through your data to find any and all keywords. Making sure you have meta descriptions for all your blog posts and images will give search engines more data to pull from.
Since meta descriptions are the snippet content that appears in search engine results, you want to use your words wisely. Make sure it doesn’t get cut off in search, and you include helpful tips to entice people to click on your blog.
To increase website visitors, spend time making sure you complete Showit SEO checklist basics like adding metadata to all of your posts.
Since Google and other search engines use this information to help index and rank your content you want to ensure they are rich with keywords and quality writing.
Is Showit or SquareSpace better for SEO?
Squarespace is another website design site that provides many of the same tools and plugins as Showit. When trying to decide which program to go with, it may be in your best interest to choose based on how each can help optimize your website.
Squarespace has an excellent integration with Google Analytics. This can help you to track how well you are doing in search results, and help you to refocus your efforts if they aren’t trending the way you want. Squarespace also offers webinars to members where they will walk you through all the SEO tools they have to offer. Sometimes it’s nice to have someone there guiding you through what can be a confusing process!
The biggest difference between Showit’s SEO and Squarespace’s SEO is WordPress integration. Showit is compatible with WordPress plugins (on certain plans), but Squarespace is not.
For me, that is a dealbreaker. If I’m going to spend time creating quality blog content, I want to do it with WordPress. The seamless integration between the two programs is the easiest way to optimize your site for search results.
ShowIt SEO Checklist
If you want to improve your Showit website’s rank, use this checklist to set yourself up for success:
Strategic Keyword Research
Make your keywords work for you! When it comes to Showit SEO, the platform can only work with what you provide. Spend time researching competitive keywords that will help get your website the maximum number of clicks.
Satisfy Search Intent
Write clear and concise content that answers your audience’s questions. Think about why they are going to Google to search for something and answer that in your content! Google prioritizes content that is helpful to searchers. You want your content to be helpful to your target audience and easy for them to read and understand.
Optimize On-Page SEO
Optimize all of your page titles, meta descriptions, and URLs. Remember that when people do a Google search, the search engine crawls through all the data on your site, so improve your website rank by utilizing all the keyword opportunities available to you.
Submit Your Sitemap
Create a user-friendly sitemap. You wouldn’t necessarily think this would be important for SEO, but it is! Doing this helps let Google know your website’s structure and ensure your site is properly crawled for search engine rankings.
Add Image Alt Text
Add descriptive alt text for images. Not only does this help with SEO, but text tags make your Showit site more accessible to people who are visually impaired.
Optimize Technical SEO
Optimize your page speed and make your website mobile-friendly. Don’t lose out on business just because a page on your website loads too slowly or isn’t optimized for mobile!
Additional ShowIt SEO Tips and Best Practices
SEO can feel overwhelming when you first start to implement it, but if you use Showit website best practices like these, you’ll be getting more traffic to your website and ranking on the first page of Google before you know it!
Regularly update and add fresh content.
No, you don’t have to update your Showit website every day. Yes, you do need to update it with quality content on a regular basis. Decide what schedule works for you and your business, and be sure to stick to it.
Monitor your website performance and analytics.
You have to make time to check in on how your website is performing! Spend some time each month with your website’s analytics and come up with a new keyword strategy or posting schedule if you aren’t seeing the numbers you want.
Build backlinks and network with relevant websites.
Having other people link back to your website will only help your optimization. It shows search engines that you are a trusted expert that others rely on for information.
Focus on technical SEO
Good SEO techniques always include having a good technical experience for your users. Make sure you optimize your images for past loading speed. Luckily, SEO settings in ShowIt are easy to follow. The Showit team prioritizes having a fast website platform for Showit users, so you won’t have to worry about random website outages or server issues affecting your website.
Leverage Pinterest and other online platforms for SEO benefits.
Your website isn’t the only place you can use SEO. Pinterest brings people back to your website – but only if they can find your Pins! Make sure you are using powerful keywords in your Pin descriptions and titles so Pinterest can find your content.Â
Work with an SEO expert if you are new to SEO and want to maximize your SEO efforts
Your best chances of ranking on the first page of Google Search Results are to work with an expert! If you don’t want to DIY your website SEO, you don’t have to. Hiring a professional SEO expert is an excellent choice. They know the industry well and understand the strategies and techniques to make your website rank higher in search results.
